A short film about a young girl who wants to get as many followers on social media so that her high school crush can ask her to the Winter Formal.
Synopsis
This short film is about social media and the role it plays in today's society, particularly in our youth. Our film presents a discussion about the dangers and consequences of our youth posting personal things about themselves that could make them vulnerable to viewers and followers. Although we follow a small glimpse of Kanika's life in her youth, we see the obstacles and social pressure she gets from her friends that lead to her posting pictures all for the "likes". Our message is not to condone or promote victim shaming to persons like Kanika but to spark a discussion about how we could best approach this social matter to our youth and create a safe space to talk to them about posting on social media and also following people on social media.
